Come As You Are — There’s Work to Do!
Not everyone wants to make art — and that’s okay
At The Shed Studio, we believe creativity thrives when shared. Whether you're an artist, a maker, a helper, or simply curious, there's a place for you. Discover how you can connect, create, and contribute to our vibrant arts and wellbeing space in Sydney, Australia.

Who we welcome to the shed studio - EVERYBODY
At The Shed Studio, getting involved doesn’t come with rules about who you have to be or what you have to make.
Some people arrive ready to paint, pour, spray, or experiment.
Others arrive because they love building things, fixing things, organising spaces, or helping a place come to life.
All of it belongs here.

Hands That Build More Than Furniture
Built by hand. Built with purpose.
At The Shed Studio, it’s not just about making furniture — it’s about rebuilding confidence, skills, and connection through doing.
Hands-on, practical, and needed
There is always something to build, set up, fix, or improve.
You might help assemble shelving, set up workspaces, move materials, or improve how the studio functions for everyone who uses it. You might help fluid artists place their paintings on the industrial drying racks.
Some people enjoy working with tools.
Others prefer organising, sorting, or preparing spaces for the next session.
Every part of it matters.

What cool stuff you could do!
The Shed Studio isn’t just about art — it’s also about building things that last. People with trade skills are encouraged to get involved by working on real, practical projects around the studio. From brickwork, electrical, soundproofing, and construction to fitting out spaces and making them functional. It’s a chance to use your skills, see real results, and be part of creating a place that others can use, enjoy, and grow within.
Keeping the place running
A big part of the studio is making sure everything is where it needs to be.
This can include organising materials, maintaining storage systems, and helping with stock take — checking what’s coming in, what’s being used, and what needs to be ready for the next group.
These roles keep the space running smoothly and make it easier for everyone else to create, build, and participate.
Help us sort out all the boxes.
And there will be a lot of boxes
Help us get our new library sorted into the correct sections. The Library is very large and sectioning the books will be a big job.

A DIFFERENT TYPE OF PAINTING
Before a wall gets painted at The Shed, there’s usually a bit of graft involved — filling holes, sanding back rough spots, taping edges on canvases or heaps of many canvases, and setting the space up properly. It’s practical, satisfying work, and a chance for people to contribute in a hands-on way while helping shape the studio into a place that feels cared for, functional, and ready for creativity.
Good prep, steady hands, and a bit of patience — turns out painting is a craft too.
